ULTRALIGHTS RESTART IN FINLAND
During the 80's, Finland was one of the countries where the
best expansion rate for ultralights was registered. The severe economical problems of the
90's put a stop to that. BUT: Finland is back, and restarts activities in this area.
On May 9th and 10th, the Helsinki-Malmi airport will celebrate its 60 years of existence.
At the same time, the largest ultralight club in Finland, the Aviation Club of
Mäntsälä, with the help of the Oy Trade Aid Ltd. company, will present a full
exhibition about ultralights.
| In Finland, the contry with some 60'000 lakes, the hydro ultralights are practically a
must. This country accepts ULs with 450 kg MTOW (500 kg with floats), with a stall speed
of 65 km/h, and having a minimal load capacity of 180 kg. For the kits, at least 50 % of
the work must be provided by the amator builder. |

This is an excellent information
opportunity, as well as one to fly over the magnificent landscapes this country offers.
